Literary mash-ups seem to be all the rage as of late with 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' and 'Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters'. Now, kid lit gets a makeover with 'Dick and Jane and Vampires.' Old school Dick and Jane with their retro storytelling and animation stylings, gets an update with the trendiest of co-stars -- the ubiquitous vampire! Bella would be so proud!

I work in a bookstore. I think its hysterical...but I'm not sure that I'd list it (as they do) as a juvie book! Personally that vampire kind of has the appearance of a pedophile in some of the pictures! Kind of creepy if targeted to kids...funny if it were, instead, an adult humor book. (and yes, seriously...the barcode on the back states its a kids' book).

ReplyDeleteYeah, I think that I'd keep this one for adults for a bit of retro fun. Doesn't seem really kid friendly. I thought it was targeted at adults!!! Seriously... it's meant for kids? That's just warped!
